I have to confess, I had never, ever heard of Bunco before reading your entry. And after googling it, I would say it's a game based entirely on chance that gives those playing it an opportunity to socialize while doing something with their hands. Is this a fair synopsis? Or did I miss something?

You are so fortunate to belong to a book club and one that brings food! I've always thought it would be fun to have a book/supper club that reads only food inspired novels and then creates or follows recipes from their pages, i.e. Like Water for Chocolate, Babette's Feast, Under the Tuscan Sun, etc. One of these days....

Kathy: Bingo! (Heh.) Seriously, though, your description is a brilliantly accurate encapsulation of Bunco. I'm going to memorize it for future use!
Avril: On the lighter side, there's also Nora Ephron's Heartburn (mmmm, Key Lime Pie).
