Don't they have miniature lotuses available now, that will fit in a whiskey-barrel size "pond"? Or wouldn't that be the same?

It wouldn't be the same, but then again my backyard isn't a pavilion either. Probably best to try out a smaller one, and visit the one on campus when I want to experience it in its full glory.


I think you should try a lotus or two--the "minatures" aren't all that small, in fact they are bigger than many of the other wonderful blooms you grow. Minature means 1-2 feet high instead of six. Best source I found is Lilypons Water Gardens (www.lilypons.com); you can order now for next year.
